Strengths

Every meter is a pleasure.
KingPin is the lightweight rear suspension for the longest rides. It requires no maintenance, is uncomplicated, and gives the Topstone frame ample travel without compromising sprint stiffness. KingPin stands out because

Magical Suspension:
Not just more travel, but better travel. Thanks to the magic of our FlexPivot kinematics and Proportional Response suspension, the Scalpel's 120mm of travel delivers unprecedented traction, more control, and plenty of fun – combined with the efficiency and responsiveness you expect from a World Cup race bike.

Looking is expressly permitted.
There's no other fork quite like the Lefty, and there's no other fork that's as good as the Lefty. Its unique construction and smoothly running needle bearings impress with their suppleness and precise steering, which other suspension forks simply can't match. It's no wonder it's been racking up podium finishes for over 20 years.

Lightning-fast.
Geometry is key to maximum speed, and the Scalpel isn't just sharp, it's also incredibly fast. It features a 66.6° head angle, a 75.5° seat angle, and size-specific chainstays that lengthen on wider frames to allow riders of all sizes to find a central position between the wheels. The result? More propulsion and traction on climbs, better control in corners, and unprecedented confidence at high speeds.

The Speed Wizard
. It's not magic. It's the result of a rigorous and focused design philosophy. Every element of the Scalpel is determined first and foremost by its function—kinematics, weight, rigidity, and performance. The characteristics determine the form, not the other way around. Furthermore, speed of execution also contributes to the aesthetics.

FlexPivot
seat stays are the secret to the Scalpel's super-efficient rear triangle and low weight. These patented carbon profiles act as virtual Horst link pivots, creating a true four-link suspension that allows our engineers to define exactly how the suspension reacts to pedaling, braking, and bumps—all without the added weight or maintenance of bearings.

Proportional Response Suspension:
A suspension's response to impacts is heavily influenced by the rider's center of gravity. Most models on the market use the same suspension design for all sizes. Proportional Response suspension adjusts the kinematics based on frame size to achieve the best possible performance in traction, braking, and propulsion.

Advantages of the geometry:
Size-specific optimization allows you to maintain perfect balance. The exceptionally shallow 66.6° steering angle gives you complete confidence at high speeds. The steep 75.5° seat angle and longer reach put you in the ideal position for powerful propulsion and excellent traction in the mountains.

Attention, low-altitude riders!
It's an open secret: lowering and raising the saddle for technical sections or steep descents in a fraction of a second using the dropper post has become an essential speed factor for cross-country cyclists as well. That's why every Scalpel comes equipped with it, so you're always safe on the most technical sections and always in control.

Optimal networking.
An integrated wheel sensor provides extremely accurate values for speed, route and distance, helps you register your bike, reminds you of service intervals and more - all via the free Cannondale app.

New Tire Setup:
Due to the increased suspension travel and more efficient geometry, the tires also had to be adapted. The new Scalpel's 2.4-inch-wide tires have a larger volume than conventional, narrower XC tires. This means more traction and control, even on rough terrain.
